The house on your magnet

It's ours: The Junction Retreat, a renovated craftsman in West Seattle. If you stayed with us, thank you. We hope it felt like home.

The Junction Retreat house magnet, carved in birch

The story

We drew this one from the picture of the house on the front of our website: the shingled roof, the porch gable with its cedar shingles, the board-and-batten walls and the evergreens behind. The rest of the set is West Seattle. This one is home.

We're the hosts, two best friends who remodel homes around Seattle for a living. The Junction Retreat started as our own home, and we renovated it the way we'd tell a client to: patiently and properly. Our one rule is to host the way we'd want to be hosted.

The house is named for the Alaska Junction, the crossroads at the heart of West Seattle. Our tagline is Stay like a local. To us it means the good stuff here is the ordinary stuff: coffee in the Junction, the Sunday market, the forest at Lincoln Park and a sunset over the Olympics.

From the hosts

Made in West Seattle by The Junction Retreat.

We designed this magnet and laser-cut it from birch plywood, here in West Seattle. It's part of a small set, a thank-you to the guests who stay with us. If it found its way to your fridge some other way, welcome to West Seattle all the same.

Birch is wood, so keep it dry and wipe it with a dry cloth. Small magnets are dangerous if swallowed, so keep it out of reach of young children.

Eleven magnets, eleven West Seattle stories, plus the craftsman from our first run.
