The Alaska Junction is West Seattle's living room — and its table. Everything below is a short walk from our door, tested more times than we'd like to admit.
Bakery Nouveau — start here
Four minutes on foot. A French bakery that would hold its own in Paris, and the twice-baked almond croissant is the single item we tell every guest not to miss. Expect a line on weekend mornings; it moves fast and it's worth it.
Husky Deli — the institution
Family-run since 1932, and the neighborhood's ice cream counter for generations. Get a scoop of anything made in-house, then browse the grocery shelves — it's half deli, half time machine.
Due Cucina — pasta night, zero fuss
Fresh pasta made properly, ordered at the counter, on the table in minutes. It's the answer to "we're hungry and don't want a production" — and good enough that you'll go back on purpose.
Easy Street Records — brunch with a soundtrack
A record store with a full café inside. Vinyl bins on one side, breakfast plates on the other, gold records on the walls. There is no more West Seattle breakfast than this one.
Sunday bonus: the farmers market
Every Sunday, 10 AM to 2 PM, year-round, the West Seattle Farmers Market takes over the Junction — Washington produce, flowers, bread, and hot food. Grab berries and a loaf, walk home, and put the kitchen island to work.
How locals order the day
Bakery Nouveau early, market if it's Sunday, Alki Beach to walk it off, Husky Deli scoop on the way home, Due Cucina or Easy Street depending on the mood. Repeat until your stay runs out — nobody has finished the list in one weekend yet.
Make it a weekend.
The Junction Retreat sleeps six, with a soft tub and smart pergola out back. Book directly with the hosts.
